OpenADR 3.0 Hackathon

Updated: 2 days ago

On November 13th & 14th 2024, three Gridtractor employees traveled to San Ramon, CA to participate in the OpenADR 3.0 Hackathon. Although already working together for several months, this was the first time the Gridtractor team met in person. Outside of the event, we shared meals and thoughts. We showed our flexibility by swiftly managing a last minute hotel switch due to a burst water main. We built trust and connection with our fellow colleagues. We also took a brief break from the event to take a tour of our partner, Monarch Tractor's, facility in Livermore.

Inside of the event, we created the Maple Leaves team (an homage to our Canadian leading software developer) and selected a use case to focus on: optimizing resource cycles using dynamic pricing signals. The event was hosted at Pacific Gas & Electric’s facility, with participants from 10 different companies. This was a great event for networking with other companies working to increase interoperability in the energy sector. We have continued conversations with some of these connections, and look forward to possibly working with them in the future.

We made great progress on communicating with Hourly Flex Pricing signals that will be provided by Pacific Gas & Electric through GridX, and we were able to deliver a working demo by the end of Day 2 of the event. We look forward to receiving the API’s to complete our integration and support Hourly Flex Pricing as an Automated Service Provider for Southern California Edison and Pacific Gas & Electric.
